This past summer, I had the incredible opportunity to intern at the Air Force Institute of Technology (AFIT) at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base. The program was highly selective, and I was honored to be chosen to contribute alongside talented peers, officers, and researchers working on some of the most critical challenges in cybersecurity.

During my time at AFIT, I gained hands-on experience with advanced cyber defense techniques, network analysis, and applied research. One of the highlights of my internship was competing in a hackathon, where my team placed first overall. This experience reinforced the value of teamwork, adaptability, and technical depth when approaching complex cybersecurity problems.

Beyond the technical training, AFIT also provided me with unique exposure to the intersection of defense and cybersecurity research. Working within a military-academic environment gave me insight into how innovative solutions are developed to protect critical infrastructure and how future cyber officers can shape the evolving digital battlefield.

As an Army ROTC Cadet preparing to commission as a Cyber Officer in the National Guard, my time at AFIT sharpened both my technical skills and my sense of mission. It showed me the impact that well-prepared leaders can have in securing systems and supporting national defense.

This experience has only strengthened my commitment to pursuing a career at the intersection of cybersecurity, military service, and research. AFIT was not just an internship; it was a milestone that deepened my technical foundation and prepared me for the challenges ahead.
